Pediatrics

Dr. Kristen Kucharczuk is a board certified pediatrician and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. A 1991 magna cum laude graduate of Princeton University, Dr. Kucharczuk was awarded a National Institute of Health Medical Scientist Training Program grant to pursue dual degrees in science and medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. In 1998, she completed her MD along with a PhD in Cell and Molecular Biology. At Penn she was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Medical Honor Society and was awarded both the American Women in Medicine Association Scholarship award and the Loewenburg Prize for Excellence in Pediatrics. She completed her residency in pediatrics at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia where she remained on staff as a primary care pediatrician for eleven years prior to joining Advocare Main Line Pediatrics in August of 2012.

As an avid reader and mother of two young children, Dr. Kucharczuk firmly believes that all children deserve the chance to grow up with books. Since 2002, Dr. Kucharczuk has served as the Associate Medical Director of Reach Out and Read Greater Philadelphia, working to prepare America's youngest children to succeed in school by providing books and advice on reading aloud to children. Dr. Kucharczuk has spearheaded many Friends of Reach Out and Read Greater Philadelphia events, highlighting the importance of early literacy in Philadelphia and its surrounding communities. She has been featured on Comcast Newsmakers and NBC, as well as in Main Line Today and the Main Line Times for her advocacy work.

In addition to maintaining a busy clinical practice, Dr. Kucharczuk's professional interests include scientific and medical editing. Her ability to transform complex medical and scientific concepts into targeted, compelling print and online content for both professional and lay audiences has made her a sought after editor in academic centers across the country.

Besides keeping up with her two energetic young daughters and her two even more energetic wire-haired pointing griffons, Big Bird and Ernie, Dr. Kucharczuk enjoys tennis, fitness training, gardening, playing the piano and cooking. "What I like most about pediatrics is, of course, the families. Being able to meet people at their point of need and help them navigate through the challenges of growth and development is a real privilege."
