Motor Vehicle Accidents

  • Never leave a child unattended in a car.
  • Parents should wear their seat belts.
  • Correctly use an infant car seat in the infant position.
  • Be prepared to switch to toddler car seat and position.
  • Use an approved toddler car seat correctly (see illustration on page XX).
  • Use a rear facing car seat until 2 years of age.
  • Use a forward facing car seat until the maximum weight limit.
  • Booster seats should be used until a child is 4'9".
  • Don't carry a child on a tractor or riding mower.
  • A child over 13 years of age may sit in the front seat.
  • Do not buy motorized vehicles for the child.
